The graduate degree programme in Media education, belonging to the LM-93 Theories and Methodologies of E-Learning and Media Education, is aimed at integrating knowledge relating to education and training with that relating to communication, including technologically mediated communication. This integration aims at training a plurality of professional figures able to operate in the different areas of convergence between education and communication, in institutional, corporate and third sector contexts.

Competence

The programme provides for the acquisition of sound disciplinary and methodical skills in both areas of communication and education, as well as their functional integration. At the end of the programme, Media Education graduate students will have in-depth knowledge regarding: the design, implementation and evaluation of educational interventions, both in the classroom and in the various blended education formats that involve the use of common technologies and the web in educational processes; forms of educational intervention aimed at developing a critical sense, autonomy of orientation, the ability to analyse and the conscious and responsible use of technologies, audiovisual, multimedia and network services and products, with particular attention to risk prevention in adolescence; teaching methods to integrate traditional learning strategies with multi-media, interactive, collaborative and distance learning strategies; management and coordination of communication/educational processes and services in the various areas of education contexts (institutional, private, associative, non-profit); the conception and creation of communicative products and environments of an educational or training nature; the design of research and development activities in the field of media education and e-learning. Graduates in Media Education will therefore be able to work in formal, non-formal and informal educational environments; they will be able to carry out functions of educational coordination and planning, training and educational consulting in different professional fields such as socio-educational services and centres; the cultural and leisure time sector; the publishing, audiovisual and multimedia cultural production sector; the training of teachers and school managers on issues relating to the use of communication technologies in schools, media literacy and digital citizenship; the training of trainers in the various working sectors (school, profit and non-profit); the communication and promotion of socio-educational and social integration activities carried out by public bodies, the third sector and private companies.
