No, you are not. In Italy a master’s degree is not the same as a Specializing master’s degree. Find out here the differences in Italy among "Master universitario" (1-year Specializing Master program) and "Laurea Magistrale" (2-year master’s program). For graduate degree programs, you can refer to the Cattolica International website.

No, you are not. If you wish to join a Specializing Master program taught in English, go to the dedicated Cattolica International section. Once you have found the Specializing Master program you are interested in, click on APPLY NOW and submit your application through the "international" portal. For any further information, you can contact: international.inquiry@unicatt.it.

Yes, you are. Once you have found the Specializing Master program you are interested in, go to the ADMISSION section of the course and submit your application through the “domestic” portal: master.unicatt.it/ammissione.

In these FAQs you will find many answers to your doubts, but for any further information please don’t hesitate to contact the Master Office at the following e-mail address: master.universitari@unicatt.it

You can participate in several calls at the same time. To apply, please go to the ADMISSION section of the course you are interested in and fill in the application form by the deadline of the call. The application form must be completed online only and through the domestic admission portal: master.unicatt.it/ammissione.

In addition to the documents required by the call, candidates with a foreign degree must upload in the dedicated field of the admission portal called “DICHIARAZIONE DI VALORE/DECLARATION OF VALUE OR DIPLOMA SUPPLEMENT” some compulsory documents related to their foreign qualification. If you are not yet in possession of the compulsory documents, please go to the question What are Declaration of Value/Diploma Supplement/CIMEA Statement of Comparability/Validation?

For further information on how to take part in the selection process, go to the question: I have obtained my international degree and received my Diploma but have not yet obtained the Declaration of Value/Diploma Supplement/CIMEA Statement of Comparability/Validation: can I take part in a Specializing master’s selection process?

The foreign Degree alone (parchment) is not sufficient for the final enrolment. In fact, to be enrolled in a Specializing Master program, you will have to provide your bachelor’s or master’s degree (along with a legalized translation in Italian) and one among these documents in the original paper version:

  • The Declaration of Value – “Dichiarazione di valore” (DV) of the qualification, if obtained in a non-EU country. The Declaration of Value (DV) is a document certifying the value of a qualification obtained in an education system other than the Italian one. It is drawn up in Italian and issued by the Italian Diplomatic Missions abroad (Embassies/Consulates) "competent by area", i.e., those closest to the city in which the institution that issued the foreign qualification is located. If the country in which the qualification was issued has signed the Hague Convention (5 October 1961), the so-called "Hague Apostille" must be affixed to the qualification before requesting the Declaration of Value.
  • The Diploma Supplement (DS) of the degree, if obtained in an EU country. The DS is designed as an aid to support the recognition of academic qualifications and it is drawn up in English directly by the home university. It provides a description of the nature, level, context, content and status of the studies undertaken and completed by the student according to a standard 8-point model, developed upon initiative of the European Commission, the Council of Europe and UNESCO. Please request the hard copy of the DS to your home University.
    PAY ATTENTION: in alternative of providing the original hard copy of such document (paper version), we can accept a scanned copy to be received via e-mail, but only if sent from the official e-mail address of your former university and directly to ours:master.universitari@unicatt.it
  • The Validation and legalization of the Parchment of the Degree if conferred by a faculty approved by the Holy See (pontifical academic titles, see Presidential Decree no. 175 of 2 February 1994). The title must be validated (i.e., "authenticated") by the competent ecclesiastical authorities. For further information on the validation procedure and the relevant steps, see this website.

If you are not yet in possession of one of these documents when applying for admission, go to the question I have obtained my international degree and received my Diploma but have not yet obtained the Declaration of Value/Diploma Supplement/CIMEA Statement of Comparability/Validation: can I take part in a Specializing master’s selection process?

If you are a student about to graduate and you will obtain your degree after the start of the classes (in any case, no later than the last extraordinary session of the academic year preceding the year in which the Specializing Master is activated), obtaining the Declaration of Value may take too long. The Master Office may consider, depending on the University you come from, whether to accept an alternative document to the Declaration of Value called the CIMEA Statement of Comparability. For further information on this document, please contact: master.universitari@unicatt.it. In case of positive outcome, it will be possible to request the Statement of Comparability by registering on the following website: https://cimea.diplo-me.eu/unicatt/#/auth/login.

Please note that the foreign Degree alone (parchment) is not sufficient for the final enrolment. For further information on the compulsory documents needed for final enrollment, please go to the question What are Declaration of Value/Diploma Supplement/CIMEA Statement of Comparability/Validation?

Considering that many universities don’t provide the Parchment immediately, you can participate to the selection process by uploading in the dedicated field of the admission portal called “DECLARATION OF VALUE OR DIPLOMA SUPPLEMENT” at least a Certificate of achievement and a Transcript of records in a unique PDF file. Enquire with your university on how to receive these two documents while waiting for the Diploma (parchment).

In addition to the documents required by the call for selection (see the ADMISSION section of the relevant Specializing master website), candidates with a foreign degree who are not yet in possession of the documents required for final enrolment must upload in the dedicated field of the admission portal called “DICHIARAZIONE DI VALORE/DECLARATION OF VALUE OR DIPLOMA SUPPLEMENT” the original (or translated) Diploma and a copy of the original (or translated) Transcript of records in a unique PDF file.

If you are admitted to the Specializing master program, you will be notified both by accessing the admission portal master.unicatt.it/ammissione and by e-mail (please check in your spam folder). The e-mail of admission will invite you to "pre-register" in a first instance, since the Master Office will have to receive the original hard copy of your DV or DS and check its content before enrolling you. The payment of the first instalment must be made within 5 days after the notification of admission.

Admitted candidates will be notified via e-mail and through the admission portal. To secure your place in the classroom, the payment of the first instalment must be made within 5 days after the notification of admission. So, candidates must proceed, through the admission portal, with the payment of the first instalment and with the upload of the following documents:

  • Pre-enrollment or enrollment form signed (to be downloaded from the admission portal);
  • Copy of a valid study VISA (only for non-EU applicants);
  • Copy of the Permit of stay for study purposes or receipt of its application (only for non-EU applicants);
  • Scanned copy of the original degree along with the legalized translation in Italian, in a unique PDF file;
  • Scanned copy of the DV or DS* or, if not yet in possession, of a signed copy of the undertaking to bring such document (to be downloaded from the admission portal);
  • Copy of the “Modulo Anagrafico Fiscale (MAF)”, to be downloaded from the admission portal (only in case of a full or partial scholarship being awarded).

In case of admission without the DV/DS* or if you are admitted as a student about to graduate, and in any case without the Permit of stay application receipt, you will remain pre-enrolled until you won’t provide these documents. Go to the question What does the pre-registration entail?

* Please note that the degree (Parchment) alone is not sufficient for registration. Go to question What are Declaration of Value/Diploma Supplement/CIMEA Statement of Comparability/Validation?

As a pre-enrolled student, you can attend classes and do exams, but it won’t be possible: to register your grades; to activate a curricular internship (if foreseen from your study plan); to download self-certificates; to obtain any kind of certificate (enrollment or achievement) nor your final Specializing master’s degree.

As soon as the Master Office receives the original hard copy of your DV/DS* and after final assessment of the document, your status will be changed from pre-enrolled to registrable. Then, the Master Office will generate the enrollment form: to download it, please login the admission portal again, click on your application number and click on the enrollment form PDF to download it.

To finalize your enrollment, please:

  • Upload the filled in and signed enrollment form in the admission portal;
  • If not already done, please upload a copy of the Permit of stay or a copy of the application receipt (only for non-EU applicants).

After having received the e-mail of admission, please contact the Master Office to obtain the Invitation Letter by writing to master.universitari@unicatt.it and find out how to pre-register via the new Universitaly ministerial portal.

Please contact the Italian Embassy for the study VISA request and remember to activate a health insurance before leaving your Country.

You must apply for the Permit to stay within 8 days from your arrival in Italy and send a copy of the application receipt along with letter of the appointment at Questura to the Master Office. For any further information, please look at the Immigration Portal website and stay up-to-date on administrative procedures on the YESMILANO website.

The study VISA, the Declaration of value and the copy of the Permit of stay application receipt are compulsory documents to be provided for final enrollment.

Please note that scholarships are assimilated to employment income and therefore they are subjected to taxation. Foreign citizens who receive a scholarship for a period of more than 183 days, such as for university Specializing masters, will be subjected to the same tax regime as residents in Italy.

Along with the pre-enrollment/enrollment form, you will have to fill in the document called "Modulo Anagrafico Fiscale (MAF)", to be downloaded from the admission portal.
