Qualification for the healthcare profession of midwife

The undergraduate degree programme in Midwifery aims to train health professionals with the scientific and technical knowledge necessary to perform the functions of a midwife with professional autonomy, according to current regulations. It enables the student to gain knowledge of the history and philosophy of midwifery, of biological and pathological phenomena related to the physiopathology of pregnancy and childbirth, to acquire basic notions of anatomy, physiology and pathology, to be able to perform all the functions of the profession of midwife according to the standards laid down by the European Union, to be able to collaborate with the specialist in emergencies and emergencies, to assess independently the situations in which pathologies arise in pregnancy and childbirth and to be able to assist the newborn. Ethical, relational and deontological skills necessary for entry into the world of work are also developed. A degree in Midwifery gives access to a graduate degree (two years) in Nursing and Midwifery Sciences and to university specialising masters.
