FAQ

What is the Verification of Curricular Requirements (VRC)?
The Verification of Curricular Requirements is an automated procedure that assesses, by examining your Undergraduate degree curriculum, whether you are eligible for a Graduate degree programme. The result is in pdf format.

How do I fill in my curriculum vitae in order to correctly carry out the Verification of Requirements?
All the instructions can be found in the Guide to using the Portal on the page of the programme (ITA) you are interested in.

How do I update the Verification of Requirements?
If you have not yet opened your Application Form, you can run the Verification again by clicking on the three vertical dots at the bottom right of the card in the Enrolment Portal. If you have already opened your application, please contact us (ITA) by selecting "Admission procedure" as message subject.

I need to modify/update my study plan, how do I do it?
You can modify/update your study plan by accessing the section "Profile" - "Qualifications - Curriculum vitae". Then, if necessary, you can run the Verification of requirements again.

Where can I find the SDS to be inserted?
The SDS (Scientific-Disciplinary Sector(s), or SSD) are indicated in the Faculty Guides or in the self-certification forms that can be printed in the student's personal area at your university.

I have taken exams that do not have an SDS, how do I enter them?
By selecting the correct wording in the 'Type of training activity' drop-down menu. Final exams, laboratories, internships, language and IT skills often do not have an SDS.

Why do I appear "Ineligible"?
Please refer to the Admission Procedures for the programme you are interested in, with particular reference to the admission requirements and deadlines. We also advise you to read the pdf file containing the results of the Verification of requirements, as the reasons for ineligibility are often given on the last page.

I have completed the Verification of Requirements, what should I do now?
If the result is positive, you can open the Application Form, respecting the deadlines indicated in the Programme Admission Procedures.

I have received an e-mail with the following warning: "The study plan uploaded for the Verification of curricular requirements has not been correctly inserted". What should I do?
Please correct it according to the instructions in the e-mail. After making the correction, run the Verification of requirements again. If you have already opened an application and you are no longer able to update the Verification of requirements, please contact us (ITA) by selecting "Admission procedures" as message subject.

I have a foreign Undergraduate degree, how do I enrol?
You need to contact the International Admissions Office (international.admissions@unicatt.it).

I cannot find the name of my Undergraduate degree programme/my home university in the drop-down menu. What can I enter?
To continue, temporarily indicate a similar one and contact us through the "Degree programmes assistance" tab of the Enrolment Portal, indicating the correct name of the programme/university. We will add it to the list and notify you when it is available.

I have not yet obtained my Undergraduate degree, can I still enrol in a Graduate degree programme?
Even if you are an undergraduate, you can apply for admission to the programme (as long as you meet the admission requirements). In the "Profile" - "Qualifications" section, you must indicate your undergraduate degree as "In progress". You will not be able to enrol until you have obtained your degree.

I have carried out the Verification of requirements test and the result was negative because I do not meet the language requirement needed for admission. What should I do?
Check the Programme Admission Procedures to find out which language certifications are accepted or what language requirements you need to meet. If you do not have a certificate or any of these requirements, please take the Admission Test.

What is the Admission Test?
It is an online test that assesses your English language skills. It lasts 60 minutes and is divided into 4 areas: Reading, Grammar, Vocabulary and Listening. It should only be taken by applicants interested in enrolling on a Graduate degree programme that requires a certain level of English language proficiency, in the absence of certification or one of the requirements listed in the Programme Admission Procedures.

I took a language course and was awarded a certificate indicating the level I obtained. Does this count as a language certificate?
No, level certificates are not language certificates.

My home university has issued me with a document stating my level of English. Is this valid as a language certificate?
No, level certificates issued by universities are not accepted.

How do I register for the Admission Test? How do I find out and register my results?
The registration procedure is indicated in the notice published on the programme page, in the "Admissions and enrolments" section, where the results will also be published. The results are automatically registered on the Enrolment Portal and can be seen in the "Test list".

How do I open a programme application?
Once you have successfully completed the Verification of requirements, the "Open application" button will appear and you will have to follow the guided procedure. If the Verification of Requirements fails, or if the deadlines have expired, you will not be able to open your application.
NOTE: Verification of requirements does not substitute the Application Form.

My Application is in the "Available for enrolment" status. What does this mean?
You can reserve a place on the programme by paying the first enrolment instalment and declaring payment on the Portal, within the deadline and in any case before all available places have been filled.

My application is in the status "Interview booked". What does this mean? When and how do I receive authorisation?
Go to your interview. If your application is successful, you will receive authorisation and you will be able to reserve your place on the programme within the deadline and until all available places have been filled. If you are unsuccessful, you will not be able to enrol on the programme.

There are no more dates available for the admission interview, but there are still places on the programme. Will new dates open up?
At the moment, interviews are taking place on earlier dates for the available places. Once these have been filled, if there are still places available, new interview dates will be opened.

My application is in the status "Verification required". What does this mean? When and how do I receive authorisation?
You must wait for the evaluation of your study plan by the Teaching Commission/Programme Coordinator. The outcome will be communicated by e-mail, and if it is positive, you will receive authorisation to participate in the ranking or to reserve your place on the programme.

My application is in the "Ranking" status. What does this mean?
Wait for your study plan to be evaluated or attend the admission interview, if scheduled. If you are successful, you will be included in the admission rank list.

Is the date on which the Application Form is opened taken into account when drawing up the rank list?
No, the rank list is drawn up on the basis of merit, i.e. the weighted average recorded during the requirements check. The important thing is to submit an application for participation in the ranking by the deadline.

Where and when is the rank list published? What about the waiting list and admissions following withdrawals?

The rank list is published on the programme page (ITA), in the "Admissions and enrolments" section, according to the timetable indicated in the Programme Admission Procedures. In the same section, the waiting list and any admission following withdrawal will be published.

I have opened two applications for participation in the ranking. How can I change the options I have indicated?
To reverse the options or to replace the option expressed on a programme with another programme, please contact us (ITA) by selecting "Admission procedures" as message subject.

What is the timeframe for issuing the authorisation?
It depends on the number of files to be evaluated. The assessment is made in chronological order of the opening of the application. If there is a merit list and if there are a large number of applications, priority will be given to applications with the highest average.

The places are exhausted. If I reserve a place for another programme and places subsequently become available for the programme I was originally interested in, can I then transfer the payment?
Yes, unless expressly stated otherwise in the Admission Procedures of the two programmes involved.

Can I open several applications at the same time? If so, how many?
In general, yes, you can open more than one application at the same time, with the exception of programmes for which there is a limit of two choices within programmes in the same Faculty (see the Admission Notice for each programme).

How can I participate in the next phase if my application is in the "Deadline" status?
By contacting us (ITA) (select "Admission procedure" as message subject) at least 2 working days before the deadline of the admission phase in which you wish to participate.

I want to participate in an admission phase after the first one, but the result of the Verification is "Not eligible" even though I meet the requirements, why?
The Verification of requirements will return a positive assessment when the time window is open to submit Applications for admission to the stage you are eligible for. See the Programme Admission Procedures.

Do I have to upload all documents?
You must upload the mandatory ones. When they have all been uploaded, the "Continue" button will appear in the bottom right-hand corner of the webpage.

How do I upload multiple files?
You can only upload one file per document. To upload multiple parts of a document, you must save them in a single file. You can use your scanner or one of these free software packages: Camscanner, Adobe Scan, Genius Scanner, PDF Scanner.
Remember to click on 'View' to see what you have uploaded.

Is only an identity card accepted as proof of identity?
No, a valid passport and driving licence are also accepted. The driving licence and identity card must be uploaded front and back in a single file.

I do not have a Permit to Stay, but I have an appointment with the Questura to renew it, what should I upload?
You must upload your expired residence permit and the receipt for the appointment with the Questura. After enrolment, you must hand in your renewed residence permit to the Student Services Centre.

I do not reside in Italy, what can I upload instead of a tax code?
It is advisable to apply to the Inland Revenue for a tax code.

When do I have to upload my documents?
The uploading of the first documents (passport photo, identity card, ...) is necessary to register for tests or admission interviews or to reserve a place on the programme. The enrolment documents (Baptismal certificate, enrolment application, etc.) must be uploaded before the enrolment deadline.

How can I tell if I have reserved my place?
Your place is reserved by declaring your payment on the Enrolment Portal. The status of the application is "Payment declared". The University will verify the payment.

Where can I find the MAV slip to pay the first registration fee? How do I pay?
The MAV slip for the first instalment (of the same amount for all programmes) can be printed from the Enrolment Portal and can be paid at the bank - physically or by online banking - or by credit card or PayPal through SCRIGNOPAGOFACILE with a commission charge. The MAV can only be printed if places are available.
NOTE: do not print the slip from iCatt.

I reserved a place on a programme, but I changed my mind. Can I transfer the payment?
Yes, unless expressly stated otherwise in the Admission Procedures of the two programmes involved. You must not have enrolled yet, and there must still be places available on the programme you have chosen. To do this, please contact us (ITA) by selecting 'Admission Procedures' as message subject with a request to transfer payment and attaching a copy of an identity document. If, on the other hand, there are still places available, but you have already enrolled, you must request a Programme Transfer.

I paid the first instalment but did not declare the payment and now the places have all been filled. What should I do?
Contact us (ITA) by selecting "Admission procedure" as message subject.

I am a student with a certified disability, do I have to pay the first instalment to reserve a place?
If your disability is at least 66%, you only have to pay the regional contribution of € 100. If your disability is less than 66%, you must pay the first instalment. For the generation of the correct MAV slip, please contact the Services for the Integration of Students with Disabilities and SLD office: Contact (ITA).

The MAV slip I downloaded has a different deadline from the one indicated in the Admission Rules. By when do I have to pay the first instalment?
In order to reserve a place, you must take into account the deadline indicated in the Admission Procedures and in any case when all available places on the programme have been filled.
NOTE: The date indicated on the MAV slip is a standard date that does not take into account what has just been indicated.

My application is in ''Waiting for enrolment'', but it is indicated that the programme places have already been filled. What does this mean?
If your Application Form is in "Waiting for enrolment" (or "Payment confirmed" or "Payment declared") it means that your place has been reserved, so you do not need to worry if all the places available on the programme have been filled.

Do I have to wait for my documents to be validated before paying?
No, the validation of documents often follows the reservation of a place. Do not wait for your documents to be validated as places on the programme may be filled quickly; instead, please respect the deadlines defined in the Admission Procedures.

When am I admitted to the programme? Will I be enrolled on payment of the instalment?
By paying the first enrolment instalment and declaring payment on the Portal, you reserve your place on the programme. In order to enrol (or pre-register) you must follow the next steps in the procedure indicated on the Portal.

I have paid the first instalment but my documents are still "Under evaluation", is the place reserved?
Yes, if you have declared the payment on the Portal, the place is still reserved. It may take a few days for validation.

If places are 'fully booked', can they become available again in the future?
Yes, following withdrawals. If the programme selection is based on rank lists, admissions will be defined based on the position occupied on the list. It is possible that new admission phases will be opened or new interview dates introduced. Please contact us (ITA) by selecting 'Admission procedure' as message subject.

I reserved the place. What now?
If you have already obtained your degree from an undergraduate programme and if you have successfully completed any curricular integrations that have been assigned to you, you can enrol. Otherwise, you can pre-register.

I am pre-registered for the Graduate programme but I have just obtained my undergraduate degree and I have successfully completed the additional curricular integrations that were assigned to me. Why doesn't my application switch to the "Waiting for enrolment" status?
The reasons may be: 1) the documentation you have uploaded has not yet been validated or has been marked as "invalid"; 2) the payment of the first enrolment instalment has not yet been verified by the University (it may take up to 7 days from the date of payment); 3) you have not correctly indicated in your Profile the degree obtained (see the Guide for using the Portal).

When will the documents I uploaded be validated? Is it normal that they have been "Under evaluation" for days?
The first documents (passport photos, identity cards, etc.) are validated once you have reserved a place on the programme. From then on, it may take a few days. The enrolment documents (Baptismal certificate, enrolment application, etc.) are validated within a few days after you have reached the status of "Enrolled".

Why does my Application Form display the message "Incomplete/invalid documentation"?
Because you have not uploaded all the required documents or there are invalid documents. In order to proceed, correct the "Invalid" documents using the instructions given in the "Notes" section of each document.

Do I have to wait for my documents to be validated before registering?
You do not have to wait for your documents to be validated in order to take part in the admission procedure or to reserve your place. On the other hand, in order to be able to enrol you must have all the documents you have uploaded indicated as "Valid".

What is pre-registration? Is pre-registration compulsory?
Pre-registration is reserved for those who have not yet completed their Undergraduate degree programme and/or have curricular integrations to complete before enrolling in the Graduate programme. Pre-registration is necessary in order to enrol and take the integration exams, to submit the study plan within the annual deadlines set by the Faculties and to complete the income form. It is also strongly recommended for successful attendance of classes.

How do I pre-register?
You must send the Application Form (downloadable from the Enrolment Portal) duly filled in and signed together with the receipt of payment of the first instalment to the Student Services Centre at the email address indicated on the Portal. You are not required to upload these documents to the Portal.

When should I pre-register?
It is advisable to pre-register from September and before classes begin. The deadline for pre-registration is 13 October 2021. If you reserve your place after 13 September 2021, you have 30 days to pre-register from the date you reserve your place.

Why don't I see the Pre-registration Form?
Either because the payment of the first instalment has not yet been verified, or because the documentation you have uploaded so far is not valid and you need to correct it. Please note that you can only pre-register if you are a graduating student or if you have not yet taken and registered the curricular integrations, otherwise you can register directly.

I am pre-registered, can I attend classes? Can I sit exams?
You can attend classes and only take any curricular integrations.

When do I have to take the curricular integrations in order to enrol?
You can register (via the iCatt page) for exams to complete the curricular integrations starting from the September/October 2021 exam session and by the exam session indicated in the Programme Admission Procedures. After this deadline you will not be able to enrol in the Graduate programme. The finalisation of the curricular integrations will be automatically acknowledged by the Portal, the procedure will unlock and you must complete your enrolment within 7 days.

When do I have to complete my Undergraduate degree programme in order to enrol in the Graduate programme?
Within the deadline set out in the Admission Procedures for the specific Graduate degree programme. After this deadline, you will not be able to enrol in the Graduate programme. Once you have graduated, in the "Profile" section, change your Undergraduate degree title from "In progress" to "Obtained" and indicate your grade and date of completion (automatic procedure for UC graduates), then follow the procedure to complete enrolment within 7 days.

Why is my status still "Pre-enrolled" even though I have already obtained my Undergraduate degree?
In the "Profile" section, change your Undergraduate degree title from "In progress" to "Obtained" and indicate the grade and date of completion, then follow the procedure to enrol.

How do I fill in my income?
On the Enrolment Portal, starting from the status "Waiting for enrolment", you will find access to the "Compile income" application, then follow the guided procedure.

By when do I have to complete the income?
At the same time as enrolment or in any case by 12 November 2021. If you fail to enter your income data in the "Compile income" application, you will be assigned the highest bracket automatically.

How much are university instalments?
The first instalment is a fixed amount for all programmes. The remaining four instalments vary according to different factors, you can find more information and a simulator on the dedicated page.

I can't retrieve my dad's/mum's income, what do I do?
If you are unable to retrieve the tax records of a parent or member of your household, please contact us (ITA) by selecting "University Contributions" as message subject.

How do I know if I have uploaded the income correctly?
You will receive two e-mails: the first one is immediate and confirms the completion of the procedure, the second communicates the result of the validation by the Contributions Office of the data entered and if any corrections are to be made.

Is the first instalment refundable?
The first instalment is not refundable after 14 days from the date of enrolment. On the other hand, it is possible to submit a request to the Contributions Commission, which will assess the specific case. Contact us (ITA) by selecting "University contributions" as message subject, indicating your wish for a refund and attaching an identity document.

When and how do I pay the other instalments?
First of all, you must have entered your income data in the "Compile income" application. The second instalment is due on 31 January 2022, the third on 28 February 2022, the fourth on 29 April 2022 and the fifth on 30 May 2022. You can pay the instalments following the first one using the PagoPA method by accessing your iCatt page (section "Online registrar" - " Fees and financial support " - " See payment slip details ") starting from about one month before the relevant due date.

How do I indicate income earned abroad in the "Compile income" application?
Access the "Compile income" application and select the option "Declaration reserved for students belonging to a conventional household whose equivalent income is partly or entirely produced abroad". You will receive an email with the instructions to follow.

How do I enrol?
Enrolment takes place by uploading the Certificate (or self-certification) of Baptism, self-certification of degree and exams taken during the Undergraduate programme, and the Enrolment Application form on the Enrolment Portal. The delivery of paper documents is not required. (If you are a UC graduate, you only need to upload the Enrolment Application; you are exempt from the remaining uploads).

Where can I find the Enrolment Application?
The Enrolment Application is a pdf file that can be downloaded from the Portal by entering the registration application you have opened.

Why don't I see the Enrolment Application?
If you are a graduating student or if you have not yet taken and registered any curricular integrations, you cannot enrol, but you can pre-register. If you do not fall within the above-mentioned cases, the reasons could be:
1) the documentation you have uploaded up to now is not valid and therefore you need to correct it;
2) the payment of the first instalment has not yet been verified;
3) you have not indicated that you have obtained your Undergraduate degree in the "Profile" section (in this case change the Undergraduate degree title from "In progress" to "Obtained" and indicate the grade and date of achievement).

How should I fill in the Enrolment Application Form correctly?
You must complete the parts that are not pre-filled.

  • On page 1: indicate your domicile only if different from your residence and tick whether you are enrolling full-time or part-time.
  • On page 2: indicate the qualifications (if not pre-filled) and tick the Type of institution and duration, then tick the box concerning the payment of the instalment.
  • On page 3: date and signature.
  • On page 5: date and signature.
  • On page 6: three times dated and signed.

I cannot upload my Enrolment Application, what should I do?
The Enrolment Application is the last document to be uploaded, you must first have uploaded all the other required documents. If you are unable to upload all 6 pages of the application in a single file, or because the file is too large, please adjust your scanner settings.

When is the enrolment deadline?
The deadline for enrolment is 13 October 2020. If you reserve your place after 13 September 2020, you have 30 days from the date you reserve your place. If you are an undergraduate or have curriculum integrations to complete, this deadline refers to pre-registration.

I want to change the parental consent, how do I do this?
You can change it by going to the "Profile" - "Privacy Data" section of the Enrolment Portal. You will then have to download the updated Enrolment Application again.
If your Enrolment Application has already been validated, you cannot update it, but you can still edit the consent section from your personal iCatt page and the change will be implemented by our systems.

I am not baptised, what can I upload instead of a Baptismal Certificate?
You will need to meet with a pastoral assistant for a brief interview, after which you will be given a permit to upload on the Portal in the "Baptismal Certificate" section.
To make an appointment with the pastoral assistant, write to:

In the meantime, you can upload a self-declaration on plain paper stating that you are waiting for the interview. The original permit must then be handed in to the Student Services Centre.

Where can I find self-certification of my Undergraduate degree and exams taken?
Your home university generally provides pre-printed self-certification forms relating to your career, which are usually available on your Undergraduate student page. (If you are a UC graduate you are exempt from this upload).

In the Enrolment Application I have to choose whether to enrol full-time or part-time, what is the difference?
Part-time enrolment allows you to complete your Graduate degree in 4 years instead of 2, with ECTS and payments deferred over time. You can find more details here.

Is it possible to sign the Enrolment Application with an electronic signature?
No, the signature must be in original.

The enrolment documentation was found to be "Invalid", am I still enrolled?
Yes, but you are registered "Conditionally".  You must correct the documentation indicated as "Invalid" as soon as possible.

Why do I get the message "Unable to upload document" when I try to upload my Enrolment Application?
Because you must first upload the Baptismal Certificate and the self-certification of Undergraduate degree with exams taken (if you are a UC graduate you are exempt from these uploads).

How do I know if I have enrolled correctly?
You are correctly enrolled when the status of your file is "Enrolled" and all documentation is valid. You can then download the Enrolment Receipt.

I have enrolled, now what?
We will inform you of the deadlines set by your Faculty for the submission of your study plan.

Do I have to take the Verification of Initial Preparation (VPI)?
No, it is not required for Graduate degree programmes.

What is the university card for?
The Carta Ateneo+ card is your personal identification document: it is indispensable for attending University facilities, taking exams, recording attendance in classrooms, and for accessing services such as the library, canteen, book lending, offices and many others.

When do I receive my card?
Production and dispatch times are approximately one month from the completion of enrolment (i.e. from achieving the ‘Enrolled’ status and validation of enrolment documents).

I have received my card, now what?
Confirm that you have received your card by using the "Carta Ateneo: Login" function on the home page of your iCatt page.

I want to activate the card as a free prepaid card, how do I do it?
To activate the University card as a prepaid card, go to this link and follow the instructions provided by Banca Popolare di Sondrio. You can find more information on the dedicated page (ITA).

I received the email informing me that I would receive my card any day now but it has been a long time. What do I do?
Contact us via the "Degree Programme Support" tab on the Enrolment Portal and we will help you.

How do I change the shipping address for my card?
You can view the shipping address by clicking on the "Carta Ateneo+" tab in the Enrolment Portal. To change it, go to "Profile" - "Personal details" and enter a different address than your residence, then go back to the "Carta Ateneo+" tab and select the new address. This change can be made as long as the card is not in production: in this case you will be notified by a message.
