Emergency Covid-19 - conducting the curricular internship

In this emergency period, the following measures have been taken so that all students can obtain the 4 ECTS required for the internship:
1.    Students who are currently on a smart working internship can safely proceed with their training.
2.    It is possible to activate a new internship in smartworking mode, after notifying the tutors and following the normal procedure.
3.    Students who have been forced to interrupt their internship or who are unable to start a new one may opt for the workshop route:
All they have to do is register on the dedicated BlackBoard page "Media Languages Internship - Workshops (2020-2021)" and inform their internship supervisors. On this page you will find some online modules consisting of free webinars given by experts and professionals in the field of communication and marketing. For further information, please refer to the already published regulations.
The supervisors, Paolo Villa paolo.villa@unicatt.it for the internships and Sara Colasanto sara.colasanto@unicatt.it for the workshops are available for any need.

Curricular internship activities

The 4 credits for the curricular internship activities of the undergraduate programme in Media Languages may be acquired by students in the following ways:
Option A - Training activities organised by companies within the University (Workshops).
Option B - Internships offered by companies, which can be consulted either on the Blackboard platform in the "Internship" course, after registration, or on the web page http://step.unicatt.it/ under "Search announcement".
Option C - Internships proposed by the student, based on personal contacts with companies and subject to the approval of the university supervisor.
Option D - Recognition of professional activities, in fields recognised as in line with the study curriculum, carried out or being carried out by the student during the three-year undergraduate programme.

Regulations

Option A
Students enrolled in Option A (Training activities organised by companies within the University) will attend organised training sessions held by qualified people from companies and industry in the field of media. They are complemented by guidance and training activities provided by the supervisors themselves, which complement the proposed activities in a vocational sense. The workshops include both initiatives common to all undergraduate programmes and initiatives oriented towards individual curricula. For further information, please refer to the workshop regulations, available here in annex.

Options B and C
Students who opt for Option B (Internships offered by companies) can apply for internship offers proposed by the Internships and Placements Office (internship offers available online at https://step.unicatt.it/ by entering their I-Catt credentials), or for internship offers proposed by internship supervisors available on BlackBoard within the "Internship" course. It should be noted that the stay in the company may exceed the working hours necessary for the acquisition of credits, depending on the needs of the host structure.
Students opting for Options B (Internships proposed by companies), C (Internships proposed by students) and D (Recognition of professional activities) will have to carry out an internship lasting at least 150 hours, assessed by the internship tutors as being in line with the student's training. In order to submit a proposal for an internship or professional activity to the supervisors, students are invited to contact the reference supervisor, sending a profile of the company where the internship will take place and a list of the tasks to be carried out.
In order to have a meaningful experience for your personal and professional growth, you are not allowed to do an internship in the family business or have a relative as a supervisor.
Please refer to the Common Rules for the activation and evaluation procedures of curricular internships.

Option D
In order to recognise previous or current work experience (mode D) of at least 150 hours, students must present the work contract or a certificate proving the activity.
Students are advised that, from January 2021, the recording of internship activities, acquired through the internship or alternatively through the workshop route, will only take place by registering at the appropriate exam call. The process is similar to registration for profit exams. Available calls can be consulted on the unicatt.it website.
There will only be one call per session and it is up to the student to register for the most appropriate date according to their career path. The last available call will be 15 days before the chosen degree session, so we recommend that you finish your internship/workshop at least 20 days before the call.

NEXT CALLS are scheduled:
25 January 2021
15 March 2021

Internship tutor

E-mail is considered to be the main means of communication between work experience supervisors and students.

The reference supervisors are Dr Paolo Villa (paolo.villa@unicatt.it) and Dr Sara Colasanto (sara.colasanto@unicatt.it). The stage.limed-mi@unicatt.it box remains available to both students and companies. Mail is regularly checked, so students are assured of continuous and regular reading of messages. Similarly, students are asked to check their mailboxes daily and to provide feedback to university and company supervisors in a timely manner.

Internship supervisors also receive students by appointment to be made by e-mail.
