Also this year, Università Cattolica, with the Agostino Gemelli Education Fund, wants to offer its support for the payment of university fees to students enrolled for the academic year 2020/21 who have found themselves in situations of serious economic difficulty.

First of all, check that you meet the requirements to benefit from this supporting measure.

Then submit your application by filling in this form, attaching the required documentation in pdf format.

The form with the documentation must be sent to: fondosalvastudi.gemelli@unicatt.it using your institutional mailbox @icatt.it, indicating in the email subject Surname, Name and student ID number.

The application must be submitted by midnight on Wednesday 31 March 2021. Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.

Students regularly enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, integrated degree programme in the academic year 2020/21 and whose family members have suffered a sudden deterioration in their economic situation, and are in a situation of serious difficulty as a result of the health emergency, may apply for assistance in paying university tuition fees.

The criteria are economic and merit-based.

The economic requirements must demonstrate the sudden deterioration of the family's economic condition.

They must belong to the following cases concerning an income-earning family member:

  • Termination of employment
  • Suspension or reduction of working hours (redundancy fund and other social shock absorbers)
  • For self-employed and self-employed persons, significant reduction in turnover as a result of the closure or restriction of the activity carried out in implementation of the provisions adopted by the competent authority for the coronavirus emergency
  • Death or condition of serious illness

The cases indicated above must be documented with all the documents needed to prove the deterioration of the family economic condition:

  • documentation from the employer for employees for example:
    • copy of the dismissal letter
    • a copy of the contract, as well as any notices interrupting the relationship, in the case of a fixed-term contract;
    • a copy of the employer's declaration attesting to the reduction in working hours for reasons not attributable to the worker's responsibility;
  • self-certification for self-employed and freelance workers
  • self-employed or freelance worker: copy of the financial statements as at 31 December 2020;
  • through health documentation proving severe illness or death of a family member.

Students, with the exception of those enrolled in the first year of their programme and those admitted to years subsequent to the first in the academic year 2020/21, must certify that they have acquired and recorded, by 30 October 2020, the minimum number of credits (minimum ECTS) for their entire academic career shown in the table:

Students cannot apply for the Gemelli Fund if they

  • have already applied for and been granted preferential treatment by the Grants Committees;
  • are beneficiaries of Undergraduate/Graduate/Integrated degree programme funds with International Scholarship;
  • have received one or more scholarships:
  • START and RUN scholarships and SMART study awards (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and the Giuseppe Toniolo Institute for Advanced Studies, EDUCatt Services for the Right to Education at Università Cattolica)
  • Scholarships and degree awards provided or managed by Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore 
  • EDUCatt scholarships
  • Ministerial scholarships
  • are already exempt, for various reasons, even to a partial extent, from university tuition fees.

Applications will be accepted at the sole discretion of the Agostino Gemelli Education Fund to Support Studies Commission.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Students who have received scholarships that cover, even partially, their university contribution cannot access the Agostino Gemelli Education Fund.

The application for the Agostino Gemelli Education Fund can only be made for proven economic hardship directly related to the COVID-19 emergency.

Those who do not have financial statements (artisans, professionals of all kinds) must present self-certification attesting to a reduction in turnover, due to the closure of the activity, as a result of the COVID-19 health emergency and any application submitted for access to the government contribution for self-employed workers.

Yes, students enrolled in the Education and Economics and Business Administration - Service Management degree programmes, which have fixed taxation, can apply for the Agostino Gemelli Education Fund to Support Studies.
